Patient Rights  +  Advocacy  +  End of Life Options
The Winnipeg chapter of Dying With Dignity Canada is dedicated to educating people on patient rights, advocating on members' behalf when their wishes are not being respected, and fighting for the rights of all Canadians to have a dignified end to life, no matter how they define it.
Advance Care Planning Workshops
A Health Care Directive (sometimes called an Advance Care Plan, Advance Directive, or Living Will), is different from a Power of Attorney.
Contact us if you're interested in attending our next workshop on Advance Care Planning. It's a 2.5-hour intensive session that covers all the relevant issues.

About Medical Assistance in Dying
Note: Dying With Dignity and the Manitoba MAID team are not the same thing! The MAID team are medical professionals who help patients who want medical assistance in dying. DWD is a non-profit organization dedicated to patient rights and end-of-life issues.

MAID (medical assistance in dying) became legal in June of 2016. There is currently one team based in Winnipeg that coordinates all requests for assistance to die in Manitoba. If you are considering applying for MAID, don't wait until the situation is dire to contact the team; there's a mandatory waiting period. Contact them today for a chat if you're unsure.
